Ecological and educational action “Save water”

Every year on 22nd of March, many countries around the world celebrate World Water resources day, or World Water Day. The purpose of this day is to draw public attention to the state of water resources, problems related to their conservation and rational use.

For the first time, the idea of holding a World Day was voiced at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), which took place in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro. This date was timed to coincide with the environmental education campaign “Save Water”, held on March 18 by the student parliament of the KPHC. The purpose of the action is the formation of environmental consciousness among students, increasing knowledge in the field of ecology and nature management, the level of civic responsibility. As part of an open dialogue, students considered the goals of sustainable development, touched upon global and regional environmental problems.

The action was a great opportunity to remind young people that the health and life of people directly depend on the quantity and quality of water. Approximately 700 million people suffer from water shortages today. These are residents of 43 countries of the world. Water supplies continue to be depleted at a rapid pace. Don’t waste fresh water thoughtlessly. Also, the leaders of the student parliament of the KPHC reminded the students of the rules of conduct on the shore of the reservoir during the rest:

  • do not throw garbage into the water;
  • collect the rubbish and throw it in a trash can, and if it is not nearby, take the rubbish with you;
  • do not poison the fish;
  • do not wash clothes in a pond;
  • do not destroy aquatic plants;
  • do not wash your car on the bank of a reservoir;
  • do not disturb or kill animals living along the banks of water bodies.

It is important to follow these rules so as not to pollute the environment and endanger your life and the lives of others.
