Volunteers Save Fish: How «Meiirimdi Zhurek» Helps Nature

The goal of the campaign is to prevent fish suffocation in winter and preserve the ecosystem of the reservoir.

On February 13, volunteers from the «Meiirimdi Zhurek» club, together with the fisheries inspection, carried out anti-suffocation measures at a reserve reservoir in Kostanay. During winter, fish suffer from a lack of oxygen under the ice, so volunteers made holes and inserted reeds into them. This method allows air to reach the water, helping aquatic life survive.

Despite the cold, participants enthusiastically performed their tasks, understanding their importance. Representatives of the fisheries inspection emphasized that such measures are essential for maintaining the ecosystem. «Fish cannot ask for help, but we know that without us, they would struggle to survive the winter,» shared the volunteers.

The «Meiirimdi Zhurek» club regularly participates in environmental initiatives. Their work demonstrates that caring for nature is everyone’s responsibility. Such campaigns not only help the environment but also foster respect for the world around us, proving that good deeds begin with simple actions.
