“Prevention of gambling addiction in adolescents”

In order to improve college students’ psychological literacy in the field of addictive behavior, on January 16, 2024, a meeting was held at the college with social educator E.A. Morgunova. and inspector of the State Law Firm S.S. Zhangabulova A conversation was held with students of groups E-14, B-5, PO-3, the topic of which was explanatory work to prevent gambling addiction and passion for gambling.

           During the conversation, the students became familiar with the term “gambling addiction” and the first symptoms of this disorder.

Ludomania is a disorder consisting of frequent repeated episodes of participation in gambling, which dominate the life of the subject and have a destructive effect on all areas of a person’s life and personality, his physical, mental, emotional and social health, leading to a decrease in social, professional, material and family values.

Ludomania progresses; if the disease is not stopped in its development, the symptoms worsen over time. A person suffering from gambling addiction tends to relapse (relapse), and at this time the addiction manifests itself in an acute form. Gambling addiction is officially recognized as a pathological addiction by the World Health Organization.

Saltanat Serikovna spoke about the work that government agencies carry out on an ongoing basis to combat the illegal gambling business, thereby protecting the population from the harmful effects of gambling addiction. And also that gambling addiction, like drug addiction, is a social phenomenon, therefore an effective measure should be the development of zero tolerance and public censure in society.
