As part of the educational work of Kostanay Polytechnic Higher College, as well as the implementation of the “Birtutas terbiye” Program, our college held curatorial hours dedicated to the current topic – “How to resist aggression and resolve conflict?” The events were organized for students of all years, and their goal was to develop constructive communication skills, as well as the ability to cope with conflict situations.
During the curatorial hours, students of 1-4 years discussed various aspects of aggression and conflicts, their causes and consequences. The heads of the study groups presented interactive presentations and conducted role-playing games that allowed students to practice strategies for peaceful dispute resolution. Participants actively shared their thoughts and personal experiences, which contributed to the creation of an open and trusting atmosphere.
One of the key topics of discussion was understanding one’s own emotions and reactions in stressful situations. Students learned about self-regulation methods, such as breathing exercises and active listening techniques. The importance of empathy and the ability to see situations from other people’s perspectives, which allows for compromise and avoiding escalation of conflicts, was also discussed.
At the end of the mentoring hours, students were given self-reflection assignments in which they had to analyze recent conflicts and think about how they could resolve them more constructively. This exercise was an excellent opportunity for each participant to reflect on their reactions and learn to approach conflicts with a cool head.
We are confident that the knowledge and skills gained will help our students not only in their studies, but also in everyday life. The ability to manage conflicts and resist aggression are important qualities that contribute to the creation of a healthy and supportive atmosphere both in the educational institution and beyond.
