Online Safety: Kostanay Police Officers Held a Meeting with KPHC Students

On April 21, 2026, the Kostanay Polytechnic Higher College hosted a preventive event aimed at ensuring the cyber safety and social well-being of young people. As part of the meeting, representatives of the Kostanay City Police Department addressed first-year students: Deputy Head of the Criminal Police Department, Police Captain Samken Nurbol Duisenbaiuly, and Senior Detective of the same department, Police Senior Lieutenant Talgat B.T.

The speakers conducted a lecture and discussion for 75 students (from groups 1M-15, 1B-8, and 1ST-9) on the topic “Prevention of Internet Fraud and Ludomania.” During the session, the police officers provided detailed insights into modern methods used by cybercriminals and ways to protect against them. Special attention was paid to the problem of gambling addiction. The officers explained the harmful consequences of ludomania, the mechanisms used to lure young people into gambling via online platforms, and the close link between gambling addiction and the rise in crime.

The police officers emphasized the importance of maintaining digital hygiene, the rules for preserving the confidentiality of personal data, and the necessary action algorithms when encountering suspicious calls, messages, or advertisements for questionable gaming services. The interactive session, featuring practical examples from their professional experience, allowed students to gain a deeper understanding of risks in the digital space and receive expert answers to pressing questions. Such events, conducted by police officers, play a key role in developing legal literacy and preventing offenses among the youth
