On February 13, 2024, an exciting extracurricular event called “Mathematical Race” took place at the Department of Information and Economic Disciplines under the guidance of a mathematics teacher, Natalia Andreevna Gorpenko. This event was organized not only to entertain, but also to stimulate the interest of first-year students of various specialties in mathematics, as well as to promote the development of teamwork and improve mathematical problem solving skills.
The participants of the race were students of three groups: PO-6, ST-7 and B-5. The event was organized in the format of six interesting stages, each of which was an exciting task or game:
“Fun Kahoot Quiz”: This stage involved conducting a quiz using the popular Kahoot platform, where students could demonstrate their knowledge of mathematics in a playful way.
“Where is the logic”: At this station, participants faced tasks that tested their logical thinking.
“Logical problems”: Here students solved a variety of logical problems that require accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to apply mathematical laws.
“Intellectual puzzle: Triangle, square, miscellaneous”: This stage involved solving complex mathematical puzzles and problems related to shapes and their properties.
“Mathematical dictation”: At this station, students competed in solving mathematical problems for speed and accuracy.
“Sing, swallow, sing”: The last stage of the event could be aimed at testing non-standard thinking.
At the end of all stages of the event, the results were summed up, and the best team was awarded. According to the results of the race, the first place was taken by the CT-7 group, the second place went to the PO-6 group, and the third place was awarded to the B-5 group. This victory was not only the merit of the winners, but also a testament to their diligent preparation, team spirit and love of mathematics, which they managed to convey through this exciting event.
