World Water Day.

Kostanay Polytechnic Higher College hosted a student debate dedicated to World Water Day. The event aimed to draw young people’s attention to issues of rational water use and environmental responsibility.

The debate took the form of a confrontation between teams of “Affirmative” and “Negative.” Participants discussed current issues related to water resources in Kazakhstan. Topics included raising water tariffs to prevent shortages, the possible construction of a nuclear power plant on Lake Balkhash, and a ban on growing water-intensive crops in the country’s southern regions.

Students presented arguments, posed questions to their opponents, and defended their positions. The event allowed participants to develop critical thinking and public speaking skills and learn how to conduct constructive dialogue.

The organizers noted that such debates help foster environmental awareness among young people and a responsible attitude toward natural resources.
