On September 26, 2024, a general parent meeting was held at Kostanay Polytechnic Higher College on the topic “The Best School of Discipline is the Family.” The purpose of the event was to inform the parent community about the results of the college’s activities and its development prospects, the implementation of anti-corruption policies at the college, draw parents’ attention to the need to enhance responsibility for their children’s safety, strengthen parent-child relationships, and foster collaboration between the college and families.
The acting director of KPHC “Kostanay Polytechnic Higher College,” I.A. Shcherbakova, informed parents about the results of the college’s activities and its development prospects.
The college’s lawyer, R.Zh. Musainova, briefed parents on the implementation of anti-corruption policies at KPHC “Kostanay Polytechnic Higher College.”
On the topic of crime prevention among students, Senior Police Lieutenant Yevgeniya Volodina, juvenile officer of the City Department of Internal Affairs, gave a speech. In her presentation, E.V. Volodina highlighted issues related to the safety of students’ lives and health, reminding parents of the administrative and criminal liability of minors for committing offenses—such as theft, robbery, extortion, causing bodily harm, distribution, and possession of drugs, among others.
On the topic of preventing self-destructive behavior among minors, psychologist Gulsym Aytzhanovna Bisimbayeva from the Kostanay Regional Mental Health Center gave a presentation. In her speech, she explained the dangers and consequences of drug use, psychoactive substances (tobacco, nasvay, hookah, smoking blends, etc.). She emphasized the importance of parents knowing what their children do after school hours and who they interact with.
Social educator E.A. Morgunova addressed the issue of bullying and cyberbullying among teenagers. In her speech, she highlighted the significant role the family plays in raising a child, focusing on the protection of childhood and positive upbringing. She introduced parents to key ways to build conflict-free relationships with adolescents.
Recommendations were given to parents on parental control, the prevention of self-destructive behavior, gambling addiction, bullying/cyberbullying, and violence against minors. All parents received brochures and business cards as part of the “If It’s Hard, Just Call” campaign.
