On January 27, 2026, a master class for teachers on the topic “Prevention of psychological risks: suicide and bullying” was held at the Kostanay Polytechnic Higher College.
The purpose of this event is to improve the skills of the teaching staff to ensure the psychological safety of students.
The event was attended by the college administration, group leaders and subject teachers.
During the event, key aspects of working with youth at risk were considered:
• L.K. Dyusekeeva, Deputy Director for UVR, spoke about the implementation of the Adal Azamat program and gave guidelines for working with the TZhS table to timely identify families in need of support.
• Educational psychologist T.V. Naumenko presented a report on the early detection of signs of suicidal risk. Verbal markers (direct and indirect threats), non-verbal cues (facial expressions, “hygienic regression”), and behavioral indicators such as “goodbye gift” syndrome were analyzed in detail.
• The head of the group, J.B. Sagandykova, presented a step-by-step algorithm for the teacher’s actions when risks are detected, highlighting the procedure for interacting with the administration and the rules for providing first aid before the intervention of specialized specialists.
Teachers studied first-aid scripts that allow them to establish contact with a student in 5 minutes: from voicing the facts of observations to a careful direct question about thoughts of death. The rule of “safe adult” was emphasized: the teacher’s task is not to treat, but to notice the pain in time and transmit the information to a specialist.
As part of the practical block, training exercises “Shadow” and “Corridor” were held for participants, aimed at developing empathy and understanding the emotional state of the student in crisis. Also, teachers actively participated in solving cases, which made it possible to consolidate the skills of building “bridges” of trust instead of “walls” of depreciation.
At the end of the event, the opinions of teachers were heard, who, during practical exercises and role-playing games, practiced the skills of “active listening” and effective scripts for communicating with students in crisis situations. Participants noted the importance of the “safe adult” position and the need to be a “beacon” for those who find themselves at an impasse.
